Jelsa is a small village in the middle of the island, hidden between the two highest island peaks, St. Nicholas and Hum. It’s a nice, quiet, and hospitable place, perfect for family trips. We’re bringing you the all-you-can-do guide so You know exactly what to incorporate into your Hvar trip!
Jelsa is reachable from the sea and the surrounding villages. Buses on the island are not so regular, but as they say, it is what it is. Take a look at a bus timetable offer. Catamarans sail from Bol, Brač to Jelsa. Timetables can be found on our other blog, “Split to Hvar”. The fastest way to reach Jelsa from the sea is a boat taxi, which is also the most flexible one when considering departure location.
A great way to have some fun while on an island with your friends or family. With lots of things to do, from paintball, battle archery, and trampolines to bubble football, Adventure Pars Jelsa is just the place to drain some energy between sunbathing and swimming.
Built in the 14th century, this church was and still is, the biggest one in Jelsa. The interior is decorated with beautiful marble which gives the whole room a much more sublime appearance.
The museum of Jelsa is open only during the summer (10.6. – 20.9.) and works Tuesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 1 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM.
A popular sand beach located only 500 meters from the center of Jelsa. It’s a great place for children, as they can play in the sand, go snorkeling or just roam around the beach as you’re soaking up the Sun.
Another sand beach, Grebišće, is located around 1.5 kilometers from the center. Enjoy the Sun, the beautiful, shallow sea, and the nature surrounding you.
A cute little cove, around 3 kilometers from Jelsa. There is also a bar on the beach, in case You’re willing to have a drink.

There is a big Plodine store at the entrance of the village, and a few smaller stores in it. They usually work until 9 PM.
A pharmacy is located in Jelsa’s center.
There is a gas station in Jelsa, on the west entrance to the village.
